So this summer (July) Im planning on taking a round trip to Sacramento California from Cincinnati Ohio. Im only 17 but Ill be 18 by then and Im taking another person with me as well. I'm going to see my dad over there, so he'll provide transportation & help with food & a place to stay.

About how much money will I need to save up in order to not only survive the high prices over there and still have a great time? Its about $400 for 2 tickets for the Greyhound ticket all together, but there are gonna be alot of stops for food/rest ect. So ill definitely want a souvenir from each state we go through ^_^ But I want money to spend in California too!

Im not even sure about prices in Sacramento, but about how much money do you think I need to save up roughly?

Ive never traveled so far!|||Well places where the bus stops charge whatever the average bus passenger can afford to pay. Its not that its more expensive than what you get at home its that the service and food is usually crap because that restaurant will never see that customer again and they could care less. But the place where the bus driver eats, they will only see him again if he's happy. So eat wherever the bus driver eats. He gets the best if not free deal and he gets treated like the king because he's driving the bus. Once you get to Sacramento its not that bad. There are plenty of cheap places to eat. You can go to Burger King for $1.99. Or get some take out from Trader Joe's. What's great is that it will be warm and you will have more options for what to do and where to eat. Check out Second Saturday in Midtown. It goes from 3 to 10 on the second Saturday of every month. Lot's of guys to meet. If you want to save some money go pick up a take and bake pizza at Papa Murphys for $7.00. That will stuff you for the day if not a fer days. And as for souvenirs, take some pictures. You must have a cell phone? Souvenirs are way over rated. They just turn into a bunch of junk you gotta haul around. Keep a note book and do some writing about your trip. 20 Years later when you go back to take a look at that I guarantee you that will be way more meaningful to you than a sticky shot glass for Des Moins. But I suppose everyone needs at least one shot glass from Vegas.

Check out this website, http://www.twinsoup.com/ It's run by 2 Sacramento twins that I know well and have great tips on hot, fun happening things to do in Sacramento. Also Grupon has good deals and check out the Grid. As I mentioned already Sacramento has a pretty fun Thursday-Sat music scene and coffee culture is pretty big out here. Definitely bring some sort of smart phone with web or a tablet or I-pad to get on the Internet. Most places have free wifi.

Don't sweat it. Have fun. Tell your dad you love him and offer to help out around the house. He'll show you a good time. He knows it cost you tons to get out to see him and he appreciates that for sure. The rest of what you'll need to survive in Sacramento won't be any more expensive than Ohio. It's not like you can go out and drink. So that option is off the table. What kinda sucks about Sacramento is the options for teenagers isn't that great. You may like to save up for a weekend in Lake Tahoe or take the train to San Francisco or check out Berkley. That will rock your Ohio world. That would be tons of fun for you. Hey if you like to skaters, Sutter's Landing on 29th Street on the River has a good indoor skate park. Also Sacramento has a pretty good coffee house scene with live music on the weekends at the Press and Hot Italia on 16th is great as well.. Some bars have 18 no drink covers so at least you can have a Coke with lime in it. Meet some guys. Share a drink. If you are cute you pay sometimes. If you are hot you pay nothing.

Traveling is not that big of a deal. Figure about $40/day for whatever. If you gotta live large maybe $80. If you gotta go fist class budget about $150. If you have a great smile and look good in skinny jeans, nothing. Remember there's always some guy around with more money than sense.|||Roughly I'd say maybe $1500 in a credit card account. Don't carry too much cash.
